Key Event Information

This event is for everyone, including beginners, pre & post-natal and people who are pregnant.
You may book onto all three or one of the sessions.
Please bring with you a water bottle and yoga mat.
We advise arriving 15 minutes earlier to the session to allow time to set up.
You are responsible for your own safety during the sessions.
Documentation will be taking place. Should you wish not to be snapped, let a member of the team know on arrival.
You will receive useful resources related to pregnancy and movement ahead of the sessions.
Whilst we can cater this session to any adult that is taking part, please note that we are unable to operate a childcare facility for any babies who are ‘on the move’ or children. If you have a child under 6 months who is not yet mobile, they can be carried in a sling or be present in their pram/ on a blanket with toys in an appropriate area in the room.

Movement classes with Dance Mama inspired by Vanessa da Silva’s sculptures Muamba Grove 0 Hue #1 & #2 as part of Sculpture in the City.

Dates: Thursday’s 1^st, 8^th & 15^th August 2024 | 12:30pm – 1:30pm (suggested arrival time of 12:15pm)

Location: Saint Botolph without Bishopsgate Church Hall, The Parish and Ward Church of St Botolph without 3TL, Bishopsgate, London EC2M 3TL.

Artist Vanessa da Silva describes her sculptures Muamba Grove 0 Hue #1 & #2 in a state of transformation and a state of in-between with movement and the body at the centre. The artworks explore the artist’s own history and invite the viewer to do the same.

Dance Mama will lead you through joyful & accessible movement classes, suitable for beginners and those more advanced (inclusive for those on their perinatal journey/pregnant & postnatal), inspired by Da Silva’s sculptures Muamba Grove 0 Hue #1 & #2 sited at Saint Botolph without Bishopsgate Churchyard.

These free sessions are ideal for a quick break from the office, conveniently programmed over a lunch time, led by experienced Dance Artist, Laura Harvey. A perfect opportunity for gentle movement and exploration of the artworks and yourself.

The closest rail stations are Liverpool Street, Moorgate and Fenchurch Street. Underground stations are located at Liverpool Street, Bank, Monument and Aldgate.
Bus
The area is easily accessible by bus routes 25, 35, 40, 47, 48, 149 and 344.
Bicycle
The nearest bicycle parking is located at 22 Bishopsgate, St Mary Axe, Fenchurch St, Fenchurch Ave and Aldgate High Street.
Boat
The nearest pier is located at Tower Pier, which is a 10-minute walk from the project area.
