Art on the Skyline: Cocktail & Create
with Sculpture in the City Artist Seph Li
Join Sculpture in the City artist Seph Li for a free cocktail & digitally creative workshop at 14 Hills, 120 Fenchurch Street.
Date & Time: Friday 27th September, 5pm – 7pm
Please allow 15 minutes ahead of the event to queue in the security line for the 14th floor. Make sure to look up and experience Seph’s artwork Everything Before, Everything After on the screen at 120 Fenchurch Street.
Location: 14 Hills (14th floor), 120 Fenchurch Street, EC3M 5BA.
In this workshop, Seph will be introducing the techniques behind the making of the artwork Everything Before, Everything After – the algorithm behind the meandering simulation and how the strokes people drew affect the river path. Everything Before, Everything After is on display July, August, September 2024 and February, March and May 2025 as part of Sculpture in the City’s 13th edition at 120 Fenchurch Street.
A new sculpture work Prologue will also be shown in the workshop – an interactive sculpture that converts visitors’ presence into data that influences the visuals in real-time. Each visitor’s presence has unique influences on the generative system and results in a unique looking sea creature. This gives visitors first-hand experience of an artwork that is based on an interactive and generative system. For each creature generated, a postcard will be printed that the visitors can take home as a record of their participation with this generative system.

About Seph Li:
Born in Beijing in 1988, Seph Li has a mixed background in technology and design, and his keen interest in interactive artworks led him into the field of media arts. Seph studied Computer Science and Entertainment Design in Tsinghua University and continued his M.F.A. study in Design & Media Arts at UCLA in the United States. Seph instances technology to create poetic interactive experience within defined systems. He searches for dynamic equilibriums in nature and re-imagines them into interactive systems through digital technology.
